After a long flight, the last place you want to head is to a dingy airport car rental agency where you'll get keys to the same tired Ford Focus or Chevy Cruze driven by multitudes before you. There has to be a better way.

Wouldn't you rather touch down in Miami, where your Lamborghini Aventador awaits? Or arrive at LAX and hop into your Maserati Ghibli? Here's how to rent a car that's truly worthy of your vacation.

Mph Club

Miami-based Mph Club rents exotic vehicles, as well as jets and yachts, for anyone who wants to travel in style. Marques in its lineup include Lamborghini, Ferrari and Bentley but if you'd rather see Ocean Drive from the backseat of a Rolls-Royce Ghost, Mph Club can take care of that, too. Mph Club says it focuses on social media to target young luxury car enthusiasts who want to look sharp and have a good time.

Turo

The luxury inventory is thin for Turo, the national car-sharing platform formerly known as RelayRides, but that means it's possible to score a bargain. Right now in Los Angeles, for example, you can find a 2016 Maserati Ghibli for $155 daily and a 2016 Tesla Model S for $153 daily. You can pick up the car where it's parked, meet the owner somewhere in the city, or opt for airport delivery.

Gotham Dream Cars

With locations around the country, 12-year-old Gotham Dream Cars has carved a niche by offering both upscale rentals and autocross experiences worthy of any car fanatics. The New York-based company offers several packages, especially in its largest markets of New York, Los Angeles ,and Miami. Rentals begin at $349 per day for a Maserati Ghibli and can climb as high as $5,450 per day for a Lamborghini Aventador. Drive its specially-designed autocross course for a day as part of its Dream Car Sprint. The Dream Car Tour features a drive of six exotic cars through a three-hour course.

BMW on Demand

Whether you're taking a trip through Bavaria or conducting business in Munich, BMW on Demand lets you drive a car worthy of the autobahn. Located only in Germany, the outfit lets you rent a range of crossovers, sedans and coupes for an hour or longer. Load up the picnic baskets with some German potato salad and Gewürztraminer and then speed toward the Black Forest in an M4 coupe for just over $60 an hour.

Getaround

Getaround, a San Francisco-based car sharing service, offers luxury and exotic cars at hourly and daily rates in several U.S. cities. Among its current inventory are a 2015 BMW Z4 for $20 per hour, a 2010 Audi RS for $80 per hour and several Teslas, including a 2011 Tesla Roadster. Prices fall dramatically for earlier versions: a 2005 BMW Z4 fetches $12 hourly, while a 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLK 280 asks $13.

Classic Car Club

With locations in Manhattan and London, Classic Car Club acts as an upscale Zipcar, providing Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and McLarens to anyone who pays the membership fee, which ranges from $5,000 to $15,000 per month. The club, which just unveiled a new New York City clubhouse in the former NYPD mounted unit stables on a Hudson River pier, also offers modern classics including the 1965 Shelby Cobra, 1968 Dodge Charger and 1969 Porsche 911T, to name a few. It's hassle-free: the club garages, maintains and insures the cars. Members have access to the clubhouse in both cities, as well as to private track days, international rallies, and wine, and scotch tastings.

Classics&Exotics

This is car sharing with a twist: instead of scrolling for someone's Toyota Camry or Volkswagen Jetta, you will be deciding between vintage offerings ranging from a 1971 Mini Cooper S to a 1984 Ferrari 308. Described as the first peer-to-peer enthusiast vehicle rental platform (say that 10 times fast), Classics&Exotics connects car owners with drivers. The database already has more than 100 cars and 1,000 renters, mostly clustered in the Northeast, but they're expanding nationwide this spring. Each rental includes insurance protection and full-service roadside assistance designed specifically for classic and exotic cars.

Exotic Car Rental Collection by Enterprise

The luxury outpost of America's largest rental agency has just welcomed Aston Martin to its fleet, making it the only major car rental brand to offer the DB9 and Rapide S sports cars. But the other Big Three of car rentals play the luxury game, too. Hertz Dream Cars rents a Mercedes-Benz G550 starting at $450 per day and a Porsche Boxster starting at $250 per day. Avis Signature Series Luxury Car Rentals has Maserati Ghiblis and BMW 7-series sedans in some locations. Compare deals. All three operate in most major U.S. cities, though specific cars may not be available everywhere.
